About This Guide

This site is an independent guide to two things that go well together: learning from free educational videos, and watching videos together with friends who are not in the same room.

On the learning side, we cover the platforms that matter — Khan Academy, TED and TED-Ed, PBS, Coursera and edX, CrashCourse, and National Geographic — plus where to find documentaries free and legally, including library services like Kanopy that many people overlook.

On the social side, we cover the watch-together apps that make remote movie nights work: Teleparty, Discord screen sharing, Kast, and Scener. For each one, we explain how it works, what it needs, and which kind of group it suits best.

Everything recommended here is legitimate. We only point to official platforms and legal free sources — no pirated streams, no gray-area players. When a service has a paid tier, we say so plainly and explain what the free tier actually gets you.

This is a small, focused site run as an informational resource. We are not affiliated with Khan Academy, TED, PBS, Coursera, edX, National Geographic, Teleparty, Discord, Kast, Scener, or any other service named here. Links to those services go to their official sites.

How the guides are put together

Every guide here is written from the services' own public documentation and hands-on checks of the free tiers. We verify that links go to official domains, that "free" claims are still true, and that the features described still exist. Streaming catalogs and app features change often, so we revisit the guides periodically — if you catch something we missed, the contact page explains how to flag it.

What we do not do

We do not rank services by who pays us — nobody does. We do not publish sponsored placements disguised as recommendations. And we do not cover pirated or gray-area streaming; if a source cannot be verified as legal, it does not appear on this site.
